Vikings Renegotiate Marcus Davenport's Void Date
9 months ago

The Minnesota Vikings re-negotiated the void date on linebacker Marcus Davenport's deal over the weekend. It now matches the expiration date for the deals of quarterback Kirk Cousins and defensive end Danielle Hunter on March 13. It gives the Vikings a little more time to see if there is any common ground between the two sides. Davenport's one-year deal had four voidable years that lowered his 2023 salary cap number to $6.2 million. If his deal had voided, it would have resulted in a dead-cap hit of $6.8 million. The 27-year-old played in only four games in 2023 due to a high-ankle sprain, and he finished with only seven tackles and two sacks after breaking out with nine sacks in 2021. Even though he has never played in a full season, the Vikings have interest in bringing him back in 2024.
