Vikings Defense Salvages Week 2 With Four Sacks
one year ago

The Minnesota Vikings defense allowed 34 points and recorded four sacks with an interception in Thursday's 34-28 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Danielle Hunter helped collapse the pocket for a first-quarter sack which was followed by a Theo Jackson interception on the same drive. But that's about where the good ends for a Vikings defense that was trampled for 259 ground yards and also burned for a 63-yard DeVonta Smith score as the game unraveled out of the second half's gates. Minnesota's D was beat for a few big plays, but also hung out to dry in part by multiple Vikings turnovers gift-wrapping good field position for the Eagles. Considering how many three-man rushes they deployed, it should be deemed a major success that Minny got to Jalen Hurts for four sacks. Their unit will once again be a fade in Week 3 versus Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.
