Steelers Expected To Hire Offensive Coordinator Soon
10 months ago

Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II said that he believes the team's offensive-coordinator hire is going to get done "sooner rather than later" and that the decision is head coach Mike Tomlin's to make. "To be clear, it's Mike's hire. Head coaches hire their coordinators, and I think it'd be a mistake for me to try to screw up the lines of authority, let's say, in terms of how things are supposed to work," Rooney said. In addition, Rooney said that Tomlin will get a contract extension and feels good about him, otherwise "he wouldn't be here." The Steelers have already interviewed former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith and Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, among others, for their offensive-coordinator position. Pittsburgh's offense was among the worst in the league in 2203.
