Saquon Barkley Considered Week-To-Week With Ankle Sprain
one year ago

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport considers New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) to be truly week-to-week after spraining his ankle in the Week 2 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Brian Daboll said that Barkley is a "quick healer" and has made "considerable progress" in the last two days, so the Giants haven't ruled him out for Thursday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers. Barkley dodged a bullet with a normal right-ankle sprain, but Rapoport still expects him to miss the Week 3 game and then potentially one more game in Week 4. Fantasy managers holding out hope for the 26-year-old to play this week shouldn't get their hopes up. Matt Breida is the best bet for lead-back duties in a terrible matchup if Barkley is inactive, with rookie Eric Gray and Gary Brightwell serving in complementary roles.
