Samaje Perine Leads Broncos In Receiving In Loss
one year ago

Denver Broncos running back Samaje Perine was expected to have an elevated role in the offense in Week 5 against the New York Jets with Javonte Williams (quadriceps) sidelined, and that came to fruition in the 31-21 loss. Perine didn't have much of an impact on the ground with six carries for just 22 yards -- he also lost a fumble -- but he saved his fantasy day with four receptions on five targets for a team-high 73 receiving yards on Sunday in Denver. It was a decent showing as an RB3/flex option in PPR leagues. However, it's clear that impressive undrafted rookie Jaleel McLaughlin, who scored in Week 5, has surpassed Perine on the Broncos' RB depth chart. Once Williams returns from his injury -- possibly next Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs -- Perine is going to be hard to trust in starting fantasy lineups.
