Rashee Rice Manages Score On Modest Yardage
one year ago

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice caught 4-of-5 targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Rice had a nondescript one-catch first half but absorbed three targets on KC's first drive of the second half. The rookie saw an end-zone target thrown just out of his reach before netting his second touchdown of the year from eight yards out a few plays later. While the score made Rice's day more noteworthy than it would have otherwise been, it was still certainly a step in the right direction for the 2023 second-round pick. Though Travis Kelce (ankle) embraces the role, the Chiefs are still hoping for a legitimate WR1 to emerge after quarterback Patrick Mahomes dispersed the ball to 10 different receivers on Sunday. Rice's next chance to work his way up the depth chart comes versus a poor Denver Broncos defense in Week 6, where he should be a fringe WR3/4 depending on Kelce's availability.
