Rashee Rice Impresses Again, But Can’t Break Out
one year ago

It seemed Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice was beginning to make inroads in becoming quarterback Patrick Mahomes' preferred wideout target, but the 23-year-old got lost in the shuffle during Sunday's 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins. The Chiefs offense appeared to be concentrating more towards Rice in recent weeks, but the rookie finished in sixth place in team receiving in Week 9. Rice did gallop into the end zone on an 11-yard screen play on the game's opening drive to lift his fantasy day, and he also made a diving six-yard grab in the second quarter to keep an eventual scoring drive alive. It's a reminder that while Rice remains the best bet for production out of KC's wideouts, he doesn't exactly appear to be close to reaching the WR2 echelon. The 2023 second-round pick should be stashed in most leagues through a Week 10 bye with hopes that KC finally unleashes him during another prospective shootout with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11.
