The Los Angeles Rams are expected to sign quarterback John Wolford off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad, according to sources. Wolford spent the last three seasons with the Rams, so it would be a reunion with the Rams in need of QB depth after Matthew Stafford's thumb injury in the Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The 28-year-old is unlikely to see any real playing time, as Brett Rypien would be the likely starter in Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers if Stafford is ruled out with a UCL sprain in his right thumb. Wolford completed only 58.7 percent of his 104 pass attempts for 626 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions in seven games (four starts) for the Rams since 2020.
