Philadelphia Defense Snags Pick-Six In Victory Over Patriots
one year ago

The Philadelphia Eagles defense recorded two sacks, an interception that was returned for a touchdown, and held New England to 20 points in their victory over the Patriots in the season opener. It looked like the Eagles' defense would take the game over early after Darius Slay took an interception 70 yards to the house in the opening minutes of the first quarter. After getting out to an early 16-0 lead, the Eagles slowed down and started to let quarterback Mac Jones surmount a comeback. Philadelphia kept the pressure on Jones and held the run game to a total of 76 yards and 3.5 yards per carry. With 10 passes deflected under the pass defenders' belt, the Eagles were able to hold off New England for the victory. The team will face another tough matchup next Thursday against a high-powered Minnesota Vikings offense. Philly's defense will still be considered a solid starting option in that matchup.
