Pete Carroll Plans To Return In 2024

Despite speculation that he might retire following the conclusion of the 2023 season on Sunday, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that he plans to return in 2024 for his age-73 season. "I'm not won out. I'm not tired," Carroll said. The Seahawks pulled out a 21-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 18 on Sunday but were eliminated from the playoffs because the Green Bay Packers also won. It's just the fourth time the Seahawks will miss the postseason under Carroll. He just completed his 14th season in Seattle as the head coach and previously led the team to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in 2013-14, including a win in Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seahawks are 137-89-1 in games coached by Carroll and have only finished under .500 three times under him. The league's oldest active coach signed a five-year extension with Seattle in 2020.
