Patriots Not Ready To Name Starting Quarterback
12 months ago

For the second week in a row, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn't ready to name the team's starting quarterback for their Week 13 game against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday. "Yeah, I'm not going to make any announcements on our lineup at any position," Belichick said. The Pats really didn't announce a starter heading into last week's loss to the New York Giants either, ultimately starting Mac Jones again before benching him for the second straight game in favor of Bailey Zappe after halftime. Zappe led New England on a scoring drive before throwing an interception for the second straight game. Jones has started all 11 of the team's games in 2023, but a change could be coming this weekend. Aside from Zappe, the Pats' other options are practice-squader Will Grier and rookie Malik Cunningham.
