Patriots, Matthew Judon Not Close To Contract Extension
4 months ago

New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon asked for a new contract, and the Patriots have made an offer, according to a source close to the situation. However, the two sides are not currently close to agreeing to a new deal. Judon is heading into the final year of his current contract and is set to make just $6.5 million in 2024. The 31-year-old former fifth-round pick (146th overall) by the Baltimore Ravens in 2016 out of Grand Valley State made four straight Pro Bowls from 2019 to 2022, but the Patriots are probably hesitant to give him a long-term contract extension on the wrong side of 30, especially after he played in just four games in 2023 due to a torn biceps. Judon picked up 43.5 sacks and 149 solo tackles in his four Pro Bowl seasons, but he'll have to establish his health in 2024 to find himself back on the IDP fantasy radar.
