Patriots Bottle Up Travis Kelce For 28 Yards
11 months ago

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was shut down in Week 15's 27-17 win over the New England Patriots, catching five of his seven passes for 28 yards. The Patriots have locked down opposing TEs all year long, and Bill Belichick wasn't going to let K.C.'s most dominant weapon be the one to beat his defense, much like how the Miami Dolphins blanketed Kelce in Week 9. The four-time All-Pro uncharacteristically saw a pass in the end zone glance off his fingertips in the third quarter. Kelce was seen wincing in some pain on the sidelines after being dropped onto his left elbow on his final catch late in the game, but the Chiefs didn't provide any update on his status. While that may leave it safe to assume the issue is of minimal concern, it wouldn't be surprising to see the 34-year-old on Week 16's injury report ahead of a Christmas game against the Las Vegas Raiders next Monday. That gives Kelce an extra day to heal up as well.
