Patrick Mahomes Struggles During Second Half In Loss
one year ago

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 21-of-39 attempts for 226 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Thursday's 21-20 loss to the Detroit Lions. He added a team-high 45 rushing yards on six carries. The 27-year-old had to expectedly improvise in a game without Travis Kelce (knee), notably completing seven passes to seven different receivers in the first half. Mahomes didn't miss a beat early, going 12-for-17 for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. Mahomes' third-quarter pick-six was hardly his fault after an accurate throw glanced off Kadarius Toney's fingertips. Mahomes' impeccable pocket maneuverability was on full display in this one, avoiding any sacks despite plenty of pressures. The superstar did his best to try and manufacture offense, dealing with numerous drops. The reigning MVP will be right back on the elite QB1 map in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, hopefully with Kelce in there.
