Patrick Mahomes’ Strong Second Half Fuels Win
one year ago

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 31-of-41 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings. It was a rather humdrum first half for Mahomes and company, considering they were up against one of the league's worst pass defenses. The 28-year-old superstar made a great effort to extend a second-quarter red-zone play, but he and Marquez Valdes-Scantling were not on the same page. Mahomes came out firing in the second half, going 6-for-8 for 74 yards and a touchdown on the first drive of the third quarter. He then hooked up with Travis Kelce (ankle) for a four-yard score after his favorite target returned to the field following an ankle sprain. Thursday's meeting with the division-rival Denver Broncos presents a quick turnaround for Kelce, but the two-time MVP should find himself in the overall QB1 conversation for the plum draw, regardless.
