Patrick Mahomes Not The Dominant Play He's Been Before
12 months ago

Drops have plagued Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in 2023. His pass catchers have dropped a league-worst 26 entering Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders. The lack of consistently dangerous downfield threats have held the big-armed Mahomes to just 7.0 air yards per attempt, ranking 28th among QBs. Despite sitting second in red-zone attempts (60) and team pass plays per game (38.3), K.C.'s slow pace of play and regular positive game script combination have left Mahomes as fantasy's overall QB7 in average points (19.7). Despite a limited ceiling due to his lacking supporting cast, the two-time MVP owns a scintillating 27:3 TD:INT ratio in 10 career starts against the Raiders, throwing for 12 scores to no picks over his last four in this span. Las Vegas hadn't allowed a 300-yard passing day this year before Tua Tagovailoa tagged their defensive unit for 325 yards and two TDs in their last time out. Mahomes is a midrange QB1 on Sunday.
