Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs Sputter In Christmas Loss
11 months ago

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes couldn't carry his team to victory in Week 16's shocking 20-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, completing 27-of-44 passes for 235 yards, one touchdown, and one interception with season highs in carries (10) and rushing yards (53). K.C.'s first half was so jarring on this Christmas day that a graphic on the CBS Broadcast questioned if they may have enjoyed too much eggnog. Mahomes' most notable play of the first half came when he lofted a pick-six in the second quarter. The two-time MVP tried to manufacture offense by using his legs all day and connected with Justin Watson for a seven-yard score to keep hope alive late, but the Chiefs squandered far too many prior drives to overcome an afternoon where they looked totally out of sorts from the onset. It hasn't been pretty, but Mahomes is likely still a top-six QB1 to close out the fantasy season in Week 17 versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
