Patrick Mahomes Aims To Build On MVP-Type Year
one year ago

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recorded his first weekly QB1 finish with 34.9 fantasy points in Week 7, perhaps closing his buy-low window. Mahomes leads the way with 49 red-zone attempts, a 76.9 QBR, and a 2.6% sack rate. The 28-year-old reigning MVP may have disappointed versus the Denver Broncos in Week 6, but defensive coordinator Vance Joseph's unit is still being dissected for the worst completion rate (75.3%), second-worst yards per attempt (7.9), and most passing touchdowns allowed (16). Safety Kareem Jackson's (suspension) absence should only make Denver's defense more vulnerable to big plays in the back end. With rookie Rashee Rice starting to assert himself as an explosive complement to top target Travis Kelce, Mahomes is a top-three QB1 in a pillow-soft Week 8 matchup on Sunday's slate.
