Matthew Stafford Will Avoid Injured Reserve

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (thumb) will not be placed on Injured Reserve, according to head coach Sean McVay. Stafford suffered a UCL sprain in his right thumb in a Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, which forced him to exit the game early. He is considered day-to-day and while he missed practice on Wednesday, McVay told reporters they will give him up until kickoff on Sunday to determine if he can play in Week 9. The Rams have a bye in Week 10, so it makes sense to rest their veteran QB this Sunday and give him an extra week to heal up while Brett Rypien starts against the Packers. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a QB streamer this week.
