Matt Eberflus Expected To Return Next Season

After extensive meetings on Monday and Tuesday, the Chicago Bears are not making a head-coaching change, and Matt Eberflus officially is expected to return for the 2024 season, according to league sources. The news comes after the Bears fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko on Wednesday. The big decision for Eberflus and Chicago's front office will now be to decide whether quarterback Justin Fields is still their franchise QB or whether they should take USC's Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in this year's draft. Eberflus went 3-14 in his first year as head coach for the Bears in 2022 and followed it up by improving to 7-10 in 2023. He's going to need to be better in 2024, and his decision on Fields will most likely be the deciding factor.
