Kadarius Toney Hits Paydirt With Little Else
one year ago

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney caught 3-of-6 targets for nine yards and finally broke through for his first touchdown of the season in Thursday's 19-8 win over the Denver Broncos. Toney received five first-half targets and KC got him more involved in several unconventional plays, albeit failed attempts. One came on a jet sweep, a type of flea flicker, and another on a read option in the third quarter on third-and-short. The Chiefs are desperately trying to find ways to utilize Toney's playmaking ability, but the former first-rounder just can't get out of his own way for one reason or another. KC's receiving corps is too weak to believe Toney will be phased out, but Rashee Rice is certainly beginning to turn some heads with his strong play after turning in 72 yards on Thursday. Toney remains an unconvincing WR5 stash for Week 7 versus the Los Angeles Chargers despite Week 6's score.
