Justin Fields' Future Tenuous In Chicago?

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields will effectively be auditioning to keep the starting job the rest of the season. If the season ended now and the Bears have the top pick in next year's draft, ESPN's Dan Graziano's best guess has the team taking USC's Caleb Williams first overall and then trying to trade Fields. However, if Fields lights it up over the next two months and shows improvement, it's not out of the question he could be their starter again next year. The job statuses of head coach Matt Eberflus and general manager Ryan Poles will likely play a huge factor in a decision on Fields as well. Depending on how the rest of the season goes, the people evaluating Fields might not be the people who get to decide his future with the franchise. Even though the Bears aren't in playoff contention, there is a lot riding on how they close out the 2023 season.
