Justin Fields Could Return Next Thursday

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (thumb) will miss another game in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, but he did return to practice on Friday in a limited capacity, and the Bears hope that he will be available to play in Week 10 on Thursday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers. Fields is still experiencing some issues with his right thumb, though, so he's going to need to make some progress in a short period of time in order to be active on a short week. Rookie Tyson Bagent will make the start in a tough environment in New Orleans on Sunday and could make another start next Thursday, depending on what Fields' grip strength looks like. Fields has been out since dislocating his thumb in the Week 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
