Joshua Dobbs To Back Up Jaren Hall In Week 9
one year ago

Minnesota Vikings newly acquired quarterback Joshua Dobbs will be active as the backup to rookie Jaren Hall in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell. Kirk Cousins will miss the rest of the 2023 season after tearing his Achilles in the Week 8 win over the Green Bay Packers, so Dobbs is expected to take over the starting duties once he's up to speed with the new offense he must learn. The 28-year-old exceeded expectations as the Arizona Cardinals' short-term starter to open up the season, completing 62.8% of his 266 pass attempts for 1,569 yards, eight TDs and five picks in eight starts. He'll have even better offensive playmakers around him in Minnesota, especially when receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) returns from Injured Reserve, so Dobbs deserves to be stashed in two-QB leagues. Hall will be a desperation low-end QB2 in his first career start in Week 9.
