Josh McDaniels Could Return To Patriots If Bill Belichick Stays
11 months ago

If New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick retains his job after a four-win season in 2023, former offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could return to the team, according to sources close to the situation. Belichick and owner Robert Kraft are expected to meet once more to discuss the direction of the franchise and whether Belichick will stick around. McDaniels has worked with Belichick for two stints spanning parts of 19 seasons and was fired as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in October. McDaniels and Belichick have remained close, and McDaniels has long been one of Kraft's favorite members of the organization. New England's poor offensive output has been the biggest reason for the team's back-to-back under .500 seasons, so a reunion with McDaniels makes a ton of sense if Kraft decides to give Belichick another season to turn things around.
