Jimmy Garoppolo Remains in Concussion Protocol
one year ago

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) had arguably his best game of the season last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Raiders QB passed for 324 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. It was also arguably Garoppolo's worst game considering his season-low completion percentage and season-high three interceptions. It was encouraging to see his passing yardage eclipse 200 yards for the first time this year, but his turnover woes are still a concern. Garoppolo is slated to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The Chargers are one of the easiest matchups for quarterbacks this season, allowing the most passing yards, third-most passing touchdowns, and third-highest yards per attempt. Garoppolo was placed in the concussion protocol on Sunday night following the contest. As of Friday, Garoppolo remains in the concussion protocol, despite limited practices the last two days, which puts his status for Sunday in doubt. If Garoppolo is unable to clear the protocol on Saturday, the Raiders will likely turn to veteran Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell for the start on Sunday. It may be wise to downgrade expectations for the Raiders offense in this contest.
