Jimmy Garoppolo Leaves Early With A Back Injury
one year ago

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (back) completed 14 passes on 22 attempts (63.6%) for 162 yards and a touchdown in the Week 6 win against the New England Patriots. The veteran quarterback averaged 7.3 yards per attempt, and his interception issues continued. Garoppolo turned the ball over again, throwing an interception on a pass targeting receiver Davante Adams that was popped into the air after a big hit. The interception was not entirely on the Raiders quarterback, but he still leads the league in interceptions this season. Garoppolo exited the game in the second half with a back injury and was quickly ruled out. After the Raiders starter left the game, veteran Brian Hoyer replaced him. It remains to be seen how severe the damage is, but a back injury could force Garoppolo to miss time. We should get updates in the next few days surrounding Garoppolo's status and the Raiders' plans for the QB position. If Garoppolo does miss time, the Raiders will have to choose between Hoyer and rookie Aidan O'Connell, who started a game for them early this season. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on the situation because it will likely affect the value of the Raiders playmakers. Garoppolo is likely not a starting-caliber quarterback for fantasy in single-QB leagues.
