Jets Looking For Backup Quarterback

The New York Jets are not expected to keep quarterback Zach Wilson around as the backup to Aaron Rodgers in 2024. "[We] need a backup quarterback," owner Woody Johnson said. "We didn't have one last year." One veteran QB told ESPN that it will be difficult for the Jets to convince a top-tier backup to play for the Jets, knowing there's no chance to supplant a healthy Rodgers. The Jets won four games in Wilson's 11 starts in 2023 en route to a 7-10 record. Among the Jets' options this offseason to give them insurance behind Rodgers are Ryan Tannehill, Gardner Minshew, Jacoby Brissett, Tyrod Taylor, Mitch Trubisky, Marcus Mariota, Sam Darnold, Drew Lock and Tyler Huntley. Jimmy Garoppolo will also be available after the Raiders cut him, and the same could be true for Cooper Rush, Taylor Heinicke, Mike White, Andy Dalton and Case Keenum.
