Jerick McKinnon Barely On Week 7 Radars
one year ago

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon has settled into a supplemental role, showing a scant seven carries for 21 yards in six weeks of play. McKinnon's bread is buttered in the passing game, except the elusive back is being outplayed in this area by lead back Isiah Pacheco. McKinnon trails Pacheco in target share (7.7%), yards per catch (7.6), and yards per route run (1.15). It leaves McKinnon with significantly reduced standalone value, rendering him more of a handcuff for Week 7 versus Los Angeles Chargers. Those desperate enough to deploy the 31-year-old veteran on a slate with six teams on bye can at least depend on a Bolts defense that's been tagged for the sixth-most receptions (33) and fifth-most receiving yards (298) to RBs. LA has also allowed the second-most red-zone targets (seven) to enemy RBs this season, giving McKinnon some semblance of life as a touchdown-or-bust RB4.
