James Cook Looks To Keep Compiling Yardage In Week 5
one year ago

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook ranks third at his position in yards from scrimmage (411) through four contests, piling up a hyper-efficient 6.1 yards per touch. Though Cook's usage remains fairly ordinary (60.9% of Buffalo's RB targets and carries this year), a healthy dose of positive game script has helped the Bills support a run-heavy approach. After receiving no high-value work in the season opener, the 24-year-old elusive back has progressively upped his participation in that area of the field with multiple red-zone touches in each of the last three games. The Jacksonville Jaguars have only let one opposing RB cross the end zone, and just two goal-to-go touches have gone to the position against them so far in 2023. Cook's lead-back role in a force-to-be-reckoned-with offense should still stick him in the borderline RB1/2 discussion for Sunday in London with four teams on a Week 5 bye.
