James Conner Nearing A Return?

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said on Wednesday that he thinks running back James Conner (knee) is getting faster and that "he's getting ready to go and he's excited to get back when he can get back and play." Conner remains on Injured Reserve, but he's eligible to return for the Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 12. We'll have a better idea of whether the 28-year-old will make his return then once he returns to the practice field. Undrafted rookie Emari Demercado (toe) had 20 carries in last week's loss to the Baltimore Ravens and should continue to serve as Arizona's lead back with Conner out in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, but his status bears watching the rest of the week after he missed practice Wednesday. If Conner is somehow on your league's waiver wire, pick him up ASAP.
