Injured Reserve Not Ruled Out For Matthew Stafford
one year ago

The Los Angeles Rams are evaluating a range of potential scenarios with quarterback Matthew Stafford (thumb) after he injured his right thumb in the Week 8 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys, according to a source. He'll have further testing and an assessment on how he's gripping the football throughout the week. Chilly conditions in Green Bay combined with a bye in Week 10 are details in consideration for the short term. The Rams also aren't ruling out Injured Reserve for Stafford, which would cause him to miss at least four games. At the very least, it seems unlikely that Stafford will play in Week 9 against the Packers. If the 35-year-old misses any time, backup Brett Rypien would take over for LA's offense.
