Gabe Davis Disappears In Week 9
one year ago

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis faded away in Sunday's 24-18 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, failing to secure either of his two targets. Davis had a game to forget, serving as the intended receiver on quarterback Josh Allen's interception on his lone first-half target in the box score. Allen turned to Davis once more near the end of the first half, but a miscommunication on an option route resulted in an intentional grounding penalty that pushed the Bills out of field-goal range. An end-zone pass was slightly overthrown during the third quarter, leaving Davis without a catch on the evening. Week 9 represented some troubling regression for the 24-year-old deep threat, who received 12 targets and an expanded route tree in Week 8 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Khalil Shakir reeled in all four of his looks for 57 yards in this one. Without a palatable floor, Davis simply remains impossible to trust as a touchdown-or-bust WR3 in Week 10 versus the Denver Broncos.
