Falcons Not Closing Any QB Doors At Combine
9 months ago

The Atlanta Falcons don't plan on closing any doors while evaluating the quarterbacks for the NFL scouting combine, which started on Monday in Indianapolis. Addressing the QB position this offseason is a priority for general manager Terry Fontenot as they look for an upgrade over Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke. The Falcons currently hold the eighth overall pick in the upcoming draft, but if they want an elite signal-caller, they'll most likely have to trade up into the top five. Ridder didn't prove much last year and looks more like a backup than a starting-caliber QB in the NFL through his first 19 games. If the Falcons don't look to upgrade the position through the draft, they could be in the market to trade for a top QB or take a chance on one in free agency. Either way, it would be a big surprise if Ridder or Heinicke were starting under center in Week 1 this fall.
