Falcons Name Jimmy Lake Their Defensive Coordinator
10 months ago

The Atlanta Falcons hired Jimmy Lake to be their next defensive coordinator, the team announced on Monday. Lake will reunite with new head coach Raheem Morris for the third time in his career. The two coaches first crossed paths in 2007 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when Lake was Morris' assistant defensive backs coach. Lake then returned to Tampa in 2010 when Morris took over as the head coach. After that, Lake established himself as a defensive assistant in the college ranks with stops at Boise State before eventually becoming a head coach for Washington. In 2018, Washington's defense led the Pac-12 in points allowed per game (15.5) and total defense. It has not been announced whether Morris or Lake will call the defensive plays for the Falcons in 2024.
