Eric Bieniemy Won't Return To Commanders

New Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said on Monday that offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will not return to the team's coaching staff in 2024 after the Commanders hired former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury to run their offense. Bieniemy joined Ron Rivera's staff in 2023 following a five-year run as the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive coordinator that featured two Super Bowl championships. The Commanders ranked 25th in scoring and 24th in yards under Bieniemy in 2023, and according to multiple sources, players chafed under Bieniemy's leadership. In Bieniemy's defense, Washington was working with a revamped offensive line and with a quarterback (Sam Howell) who had just one start in 2022 as a rookie. The Commanders have now ranked 20th or worse in both yards and points scored for six straight seasons.
