Drops Ruin Patrick Mahomes' Night In Loss
12 months ago

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted his third straight lackluster fantasy output during Monday's 21-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, completing 24-of-43 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception with six carries for 38 yards. Mahomes first located Justin Watson for a three-yard touchdown during the first quarter before lofting a red-zone pick in the second period. The 28-year-old later found go-to target Travis Kelce for another short score, this time from four yards out. It's readily apparent that Mahomes' play is being held back by his supporting cast, who have now committed a league-high 26 drops this season. None may have been worse than Marquez Valdes-Scantling's blatant drop near the end zone on K.C.'s final drive of the evening. With the trade deadline having come and went, we may need to reluctantly knock Mahomes into the midrange QB1 area for Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
