Desmond Ridder To Start Over Taylor Heinicke Going Forward
12 months ago

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder will return to the starting role in Week 12 versus the New Orleans Saints, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Taylor Heinicke has been benched and will operate as the No. 2 quarterback behind Ridder. It was a short-lived promotion to the starting role for Heinicke who completed 29 of 53 passes for 323 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and an additional 54 rushing yards through two starts. (It's worth noting that he exited Week 10 early with an injury and was replaced by Ridder.) From a fantasy perspective, this move doesn't have too many implications. Ridder may have slightly more rushing upside and a lower passing ceiling, but there's not an enormous difference between the two in terms of altering their teammates' fantasy potential. Ridder's return leaves Bijan Robinson as a low-end RB1, Tyler Allgeier as an RB3, Drake London as a WR3, and Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith as low-end TE1s.
