Deshaun Watson Won't Start In Week 9
one year ago

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto writes that quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) won't start in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals while he continues to recover from a sprained right rotator cuff. The Browns will once again choose between P.J. Walker and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center. We'll keep a close eye on Watson's status this week at practice, but it's looking like an uphill battle for him to play this weekend. The 28-year-old has started just three full games in 2023 due to his injury and hasn't been particularly impressive when he's been healthy. The Browns will likely stick with Walker at QB in a winnable Week 9 game, but he does have seven turnovers (five interceptions, two lost fumbles) in three games played. Walker has also thrown just one touchdown pass and is completing half of his pass attempts.
