Dennis Allen Confirms Derek Carr Is QB1 When Healthy
one year ago

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen shut down any notion of a possible quarterback controversy involving Derek Carr (concussion, shoulder) and Jameis Winston following Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. "We'll see where Derek's at. I know we're not in a competition there. I thought Jameis did some good things. But Derek Carr is our starting quarterback," Allen stated when asked if Winston's Week 10 display may have affected the depth chart. It may not be what receiver Chris Olave's fantasy managers were hoping for after the 23-year-old star wideout revived for his best fantasy output of the year with a 6/94/1 receiving line following a first-half donut. The gunslinging Winston helped engineer a couple of second-half scoring drives to get the Saints back into the game, but he simultaneously set back New Orleans' comeback trail with a few of his trademark ill-advised interceptions. With a timely Week 11 bye on deck, a banged-up Carr has 14 days to heal from a concussion and shoulder injury before a pivotal Week 12 NFC South clash with the Atlanta Falcons.
