Demario Douglas, Tyquan Thornton Have More Opportunity
one year ago

New England Patriots leading wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (knee) suffered a torn ACL in the Week 8 loss to the Miami Dolphins and will miss the rest of the season. DeVante Parker, who suffered a head injury in Week 8, second-year wideout Tyquan Thornton and rookies Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte are candidates to replace Bourne moving forward. Thornton and Boutte were both healthy scratches this past Sunday. Thornton, the 50th overall pick in 2022, could bring a downfield threat to an offense that has lacked a deep passing game. JuJu Smith-Schuster, who has been a big disappointment in his first year in New England, will also take on a much larger role. Douglas, a sixth-round rookie, has 19 receptions for 222 yards in his first seven NFL games and will be intriguing on the waiver wire this week with Bourne done for the year.
