Deebo Samuel Hard To Trust Versus Cleveland
one year ago

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel will face a solid Browns passing defense on Sunday in Cleveland. Samuel is coming off a game against Dallas in which he caught three of three targets for 55 yards and added five carries for 30 yards on the ground. In the previous game, versus Arizona, he was not targeted at all. Cleveland's pass defense has been excellent so far, ranking first in receiving yards allowed per game at 125 and they're tied for first in touchdowns to receivers, only allowing one. Furthermore, Cleveland runs the most man coverage of any team in the league at 39.5% and Samuel tends to thrive more against zone. The lack of recent targets coupled with the poor matchup make Samuel a fade in this one. It's probably safer to consider him a WR3/flex this week.
