Dean Lowry Could Be Cut By Vikings

The Athletic's Alec Lewis mentions defensive lineman Dean Lowry as a cut candidate for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. The team doesn't have a ton of obvious candidates to cut this year like they did last offseason, when they cut receiver Adam Thielen, linebacker Eric Kendricks and running back Dalvin Cook, among others. They could save on the salary cap by releasing defensive tackle Harrison Phillips and cornerback Byron Murphy Jr., but they might need both players in 2024. Lowry is the most obvious choice, especially since the 29-year-old only played in nine games in 2023 due to a pectoral injury. When he was healthy, he made a minimal impact for Minnesota on defense. Cutting Lowry would save the Vikings around $2 million.
