David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs To Be Involved In Committee
one year ago

With Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (ribs) set to return in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Dan Campbell said both Montgomery and rookie first-rounder Jahmyr Gibbs will get plenty of opportunities. Montgomery hasn't played since Week 6, and Gibbs is coming off his best game as a pro. "I don't think, necessarily sitting here talking to you right now, that I see Gibbs getting 65 plays. I don't see that. But he's going to get his fair share now. We know what he can be and he's growing. I think it'll be a little bit by committee and make sure we get those guys their touches. Gibbs will get his touches," Campbell said. Monty was the clear-cut starter for Detroit before his injury and should be the favorite for the majority of touches the rest of the way as long as he's healthy. However, Gibbs' breakout game in Week 8 likely means he'll get closer to an equal workload moving forward.
