Christian McCaffrey Primed For Big Night Against Giants
one year ago

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is likely to find running room when the team hosts the New York Giants in their home opener Thursday night. In Week 2, McCaffrey rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries with three receptions on three targets for 19 yards. His workload remained heavy, getting 23 touches after handling 25 the previous week, while backups Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason combined for zero snaps. Head coach Kyle Shanahan later admitted that he has to do a better job getting those two involved so fantasy managers shouldn't expect McCaffrey's complete domination of the backfield moving forward, especially this week on short rest. McCaffrey lines up against a Giants' defense that is last in the league in points allowed per game and most of that vulnerability has been against the run. They gave up 153 yards rushing to Arizona last week and are tied for second-to-last in the NFL in yards per carry, allowing 5.2 YPC to date. A slight reduction in snaps aside, CMC has plenty of juice to remain a high-end RB1 against the porous Giants' defense.
