Chiefs Offense Hasn't Hit Top Gear Yet
one year ago

The Kansas City Chiefs offense, led by MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is ninth in scoring at 24.5 points per game and seventh in yards at 382 yards per game through their first six games. However, that output is well below the standards they have set since Mahomes became the starter in 2018, and they scored just once against a historically bad Denver Broncos defense on Thursday night. "Luckily for us, our defense is playing great so we can go through these growing pains and try to get better and better," Mahomes said. "The talent is there. You can see it in spurts." Behind tight end Travis Kelce (nine catches for 100-plus yards against Denver) and running back Isiah Pacheco (averaging 4.4 yards per carry), the Chiefs haven't had a consistent offensive performer.
