Chiefs Defense Largely A Non-Factor In Loss
one year ago

The Kansas City Chiefs defense allowed 15 points and logged one sack and a fumble in Thursday's 21-20 loss to the Detroit Lions. Steve Spagnuolo's unit was missing game-wrecking nose tackle Chris Jones (holdout) in the season opener, but they forced the first fumble of veteran wideout Marvin Jones Jr.'s career in the red zone during the second quarter to stymie a potential Detroit scoring drive. Mike Danna got to Jared Goff for the defense's lone sack of the evening on the ensuing series. It wasn't an awful night considering the circumstances, but KC's D is not going to be a preferred option in Week 2's road affair with the Jacksonville Jaguars, even if Jones ends his holdout.
