Chargers Sign Will Grier Off Patriots Practice Squad
11 months ago

The Los Angeles Chargers signed quarterback Will Grier off the New England Patriots practice squad on Monday, according to a source. It's the first significant move by interim general manager JoJo Wooden after both head coach Brandon Staley and long-time GM Tom Telesco were fired last Friday following the embarrassing 63-21 loss to the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night. The move gives the Bolts more quarterback insurance behind Easton Stick and rookie Max Duggan with regular starter Justin Herbert (finger) finished for the rest of the season. The 28-year-old Grier never saw the field in New England this year despite the team's struggles at QB, and he hasn't played in an NFL game since his rookie season in 2019 for the Carolina Panthers, when he went 28-for-52 for 228 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions in two starts.
