Cardinals Return Damien Williams To Practice Squad
one year ago

The Arizona Cardinals reverted running back Damien Williams (foot) to their practice squad on Monday, per the NFL's transaction report. Williams sustained a foot injury during Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and did not return following his departure. The 31-year-old journeyman took a surprising amount of work in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams (nine touches for 44 yards) but has four touches for 11 yards across his latest two games. The Cardinals would have to sign Williams for him to be included on their active roster going forward, since they have promoted him from the practice squad three times this year. With James Conner (knee, IR) out for at least one more week, look for the re-emerging Emari Demercado to handle Arizona's lead-back role with Keaontay Ingram serving as a change-of-pace back in Week 9's dismal road matchup with the Cleveland Browns.
