Cardinals Claim Michael Carter Off Waivers From Jets

The Arizona Cardinals claimed running back Michael Carter off waivers from the New York Jets on Wednesday, according to a source. Carter had a strong rookie season in 2021 with 639 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 147 rushing attempts in 14 games (11 starts) and was looking like the Jets' lead back of the future before they selected Breece Hall in the 2022 draft. He quickly fell out of favor with Gang Green and will now look for a fresh start as backfield depth behind James Conner. At the very least, he could become an interesting PPR flier in the second half as a change-of-pace option for Arizona alongside Conner. Carter has averaged 4.0 yards per carry through his first 39 NFL games and also has 92 receptions for 681 yards through the air.
